Pendulum Clock Structure

The structure of the pendulum clock can be roughly divided into a time part, a dot part, a pointer part and a dot control part.
1. Running time part
It is composed of a head wheel (i.e., a box wheel with a mainspring), a second wheel, a third wheel (center wheel), a fourth wheel, an escape wheel, an escape fork, a pendulum, etc.
The cartridge wheel is the largest wheel in the movement, and the mainspring is housed in a box under the wheel (most pendulum clocks produced in the past do not have a cartridge), which is the energy source for the running part. The second, third and fourth wheels are all transmission wheels, and their structure is composed of axles, wheels, pins, etc. The structure of the escape wheel is the same as that of the above wheels, but its wheel teeth are diagonally triangular tines. The pallet fork is also called a clip, and its function is to take the escape teeth and send them out.
The pendulum assembly consists of a pendulum, a pendulum and a pendulum hanging device. There is a perforation in the middle of the pendulum, through which the pendulum rod passes, and the nut is fixed below. This device can raise or lower the pendulum to adjust the speed of the clock.

2. Dotting part
It is composed of a dot box wheel, a dot two wheels, a dot three wheels, a dot four wheels, a dot five wheels and a wind wheel. There is a star angle wheel on the three wheels, when the gear system rotates, it makes the lifting rod on the dot shaft constantly lift and fall, one end of the dot shaft is fixed with two hammers, and the hammer head strikes a long and a short two gongs, it makes a pleasant sound. The wind wheel mainly plays the role of adjusting the rotation speed of the wheel system, so that there is a suitable time interval for the dotting sound.

3. Pointer part
It consists of a split wheel, a straddle wheel, and a time wheel. The principle of construction is basically the same as that of an alarm clock.

4. Dot control part
The pendulum clock is marked every half hour, striking the hour the same number as the hour hand indicates, so that it must be controlled by the time. There is a mechanism that controls the number of dots between the time and the dotting, which is composed of two angle cams, twelve angle cams, sector teeth, brake lifting levers, switch levers, pick-tooth cams, etc.
The two-angle cam is tightly fixed to the central axle of the running part and rotates with the center wheel once per hour. The radius of the tip of the two-angle cam tooth is one long and one short, the long one is used for the whole point, and the short one is used for half the point. The dodecagonal cam is placed on the wheel tube and rotates once every twelve hours, turning one corner of the dodecagonal cam every hour. Usually, the brake lever is raised to block the five rounds of dotting nails, so that the dotting mechanism can not operate. When the two-angle cam rotates clockwise, the brake lever is slowly jacked up, and the upper end of the brake lever finally releases the nail (this process is also called the brake lifting), but after the nail of the five rounds of dotting turns an angle, it is blocked by the fold angle of the switch lever, and the dotting mechanism stops running again. Because the brake lever is lifted at the same time, the switch lever is jacked up, the switch lever originally supported the sector tooth plate at the end and is now released, the sector tooth plate falls, and the middle section of the tooth plate folds the corner in the middle of one corner of the twelve-angle cam. When the two-angle cam pushes the brake lever to the highest point and falls, the nail stop part of the switch lever blocking the five rounds of dotting is also detached at the same time, and the dotting mechanism begins to rotate. The star horn wheel on the third wheel of the dot plucks the lifting lever and drives the hammer to strike the gong. The paddle tooth cam fastened on the four-wheel axle also rotates with the rotation, and the paddle pin on the cam moves the fan-shaped tooth plate upwards until the end of the switch lever re-supports the fan-shaped halogen plate, and the brake lever is lifted to block the stop nail on the five wheels of the dotting, and the dotting work is completed.
